Yes, Kerala University is a public state university. One of the first 16 institutions in India, the University of Kerala was founded in 1937 and was formerly known as the University of Travancore. The Maharajah of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama, who also served as the institution's first chancellor, officially established Kerala University.
