Materials Management is the function responsible for the co-ordination of planning, sourcing, purchasing, moving, storing and controlling materials in an optimum manner so as to provide a pre-decided service to the customer at a minimum cost. It is an advanced field of study in the areas of marketing and  production. It is almost the same as MBA general degree and there are a huge number of opportunities available.

The common career paths available are, supply chain manager, purchasing manager, procurement manager. The average salary in India ranges from 7-9 lakhs per year for MBA graduates and 4 Lakhs per year for diploma graduates.
