Is there any news regarding cmc case in SC?
UPDATE :
The Supreme Court case around CMC’s petition against the NEET common counselling process has now been listed for March 23 , 2018.
The case was heard last year by a two-member Bench comprising Justices Arun Mishra and MM Shantanagoudar who issued instructions for other similar cases involving Christian Medical College and Christian Dental College in Ludhiana, to be clubbed together with CMC Vellore’s.
Given that the hearing has been continuously adjourned since then, it looks like the verdict for these cases, in which both the unrelated institutions are seeking a separate counselling process outside of NEET, is unlikely to be issued anytime soon. So at this juncture, it looks like the admissions won't be carried out for the first year MBBS 2017-18 at CMC Vellore whatever the Court rules.
The most likely possibility at this point would be that the current batch would proceed with one student only and interested candidates will have to appear for and qualify NEET 2018 to apply to CMC for the 2018-19 session irrespective of whether it is Tamil Nadu state authority or the college itself which conducts the counselling. The best case scenario will be if CMC allows candidates who have completed first year MBBS at other reputed institutions to join from the second year onwards through some separate selection process but the chances of this happening are also not clear at the moment .
In the meantime, if you are interested in applying for admissions to CMC Vellore, your best route would be through clearing NEET 2018 (pending the Supreme Court verdict in any case).
All the best!
Hi Mohammed!
The Supreme Court hearing is now adjourned to February 16, 2018. At this juncture, it looks like the admissions won't be carried out for the first year MBBS despite whatever the Court rules. The best case scenario will be if CMC allows candidates who have completed first year MBBS at other reputed institutions to join from the second year onwards through some separate selection process but the chances of this happening are highly unlikely.
I would recommend that if you are really keen on getting admissions to CMC Vellore, appear for NEET 2018 and clear it with the best possible marks. CMC Vellore will be holding admissions on the basis of NEET marks only, but the rest of the admission process will be known through the SC verdict.
Hope this helps! All the best!
