Is This how total students for calculating rank in JEE MAIN done - (no. of students who gave paper 1&2 + who gave 1,not 2nd+who gave 2,not 1st)... I'm asking Because for JEE (Jan session) 8.69 app. students appeared but In September there would be different fig.....So how they calculate students

I know how to calculate rank .......i want to know how they get these figures. (no. of candidates) to calculate the rank .....thats what i wrote in the first place.....i could have also calculated rank with paper 1 and paper 2 students separately.....i need Total students paper 1 +paper 2 figures .......That total isn't done by just adding paper 1 & paper 2 candidates...... I'm asking do they take common from 1&2 (who gave both 1&2) + (who gave 1,Not 2)+ (who gave 2, not 1) ...... That's my question is that how total students calculated????
