I've completed 11th and 12th in Chennai and from 5ht to 10th in Singapore. Am I allowed to apply for government colleges like IIT, NiTs ?

If you have a domicile of India (and of a particular state), then yes you'll be eligible. If your parents have an Indian domicile and own a piece of land in the country, then also you'll be eligible. This eligibility holds only when you satisfy the other criteria like securing a minimum of 75% in 10+2 (for general category) and 65% for SC/ST and the age criteria.

Ms Sujatha, Thank you very much for the clarification. I was confused when I keep hearing many versions of the eligibility criteria. Let me explain a bit more about my situation. 1. I'm on an assignment in Singapore (payroll in India) and considered as NRI from an income tax standpoint as I had been away from India for the last 5 years2. My kids went through education from 5th to 10th standard in Singapore.3. In order to be eligible to apply under NORMAL quota (I cannot pay the hefty NRI fees), should I repatriate to India to pursue 11th and 12th grade?4. Or can I continue their education in Singapore till 12th grade and then apply for college admission in India under normal quota?Hope you can clarify. Highly Appreciate it. Regards, Nandagopal
