Yes through gate it is possible .For this you need to qualify computer science gate paper and should have valid score to do masters in AI(CSE). IITs are more flexible in changing of branch comparable to other institutes.
So get high score in Gate to get admission in IITs /NITs if you want to proceed smoothly
