looking at the previous year opening and closing ranks of nits I am too worried.i got 5130 sc rank,if get a good nit then I couldn't get a good branch if get a good branch then i couldn't get a good nit.what should i do ?

You should choose a good branch always as academic of the NITs are more or less same. If you choose a good branch like CSE, ME, EE, ECE, you can continue higher studies also in these branches. You need a good GATE rank to open up thousands of possibilities in these branches.

With a good NIT and average branch you may get placed but higher studies will be walled to some limit.
