With an obc rank of 54249 you will surely be able to get all the branches in NIT PUDUCHERRY with a home state quota ,but it may so happen that you have to wait till the 7th round or even the special round too.Don't listen to your friends and have faith on yourself because you are surely going to get mechanical engg and CSE too in NIT PUDUCHERRY if your luck is with you.
