My JEE mains BC rank 63153 but seat not allotted in counselling
With a BC rank of 63153 in JEE Main, not getting a seat in counselling likely means your rank was too low for the branches and colleges you selected. Highly demanded branches like CSE or ECE usually close at much lower BC ranks, especially in NITs, IIITs, and top government colleges. Even newer NITs tend to have lower cutoffs than your rank for BC candidates.
It's also possible that your choices during counselling were too ambitious, or that you didn’t fill in enough lower-preference options. If you completed all steps correctly but still weren’t allotted a seat, then the main issue is just the rank versus cutoff gap.
At this stage, you can wait for further rounds like CSAB special rounds if they are still ongoing, or look into state-level counselling and private engineering colleges where the cutoffs are more relaxed.
Sorry to hear that , there may be some reasons for that. They are:
High competition
: Popular branches and colleges fill up fast, especially in early rounds.
Choice filling strategy
: If you only listed top colleges or branches, you might’ve missed out on safer options.
Seat matrix limitations
: Some institutes have very few seats for BC category, and cutoffs can vary widely.
Round status
: If you didn’t participate in later rounds or didn’t opt for “float” or “slide,” your chances could’ve dropped.
But don't worry you can now follow these steps:
Join CSAB Special Rounds
: These happen after JoSAA and often have leftover seats. You might get lucky there!
Explore Spot Counseling
: Some institutes hold spot rounds if seats remain vacant.
Consider State Counseling
: Telangana and other states may offer seats based on JEE rank separately.
Private Colleges via JEE
: Many reputed private colleges accept JEE scores and have BC reservations too.
All the best!
