My son was alloted a seat in NIELT Ropar(Punjab) through josaa counseling in CS(Ai and Ml). Should i consider this college or go through further rounds in josaa?
Hello Mr. Shashank,
NIELIT Ropar is fairly new in offering B. Tech programs and has currently poor campus placement and infrastructure compared to other well-established institutes. If your son's rank permits, it would be best to attend further rounds of JoSAA and look for better options elsewhere, particularly within more established NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs. However, if no other options are available, if he is truly passionate about AI/ML, then he can take advantage of the opportunity by self-learning and putting in an internship — but this will depend heavily on him to take the next step.
Hi dear guardian,
It all depends on your rank, if you have got such a rank that makes you feel confident that you will get a better college further then you may choose to "float" your seat which means you also have the currently allotted seat but you are also open to any higher preference in further counselling round. If you are not confident with your rank then you may choose to "freeze" your seat.
Keep in mind that floating a seat might require to pay a certain fees to JOSSA and it is only available till round 4.

After all NIELT Ropar is also a decent college.
