Yes, GATE syllabus and PGECET syllabus is more or less same.Only the exam patter and marking scheme changes and the difficulty of PGECET is less when compared to GATE.So, you can prepare for the PGECET entrance from the same GATE study material.Make sure that you check the previous year papers and solve them.Attempt mock tests.
