Rank required to get into PSU through GATE.

Required GATE rank depends upon the engineering branch, Company (PSU) and no of vacancies for the stream. Good news for people who are graduating now and in next 34 years is that both IOCL and ONGC will be recruiting in bulk because of bulk retirements in both the companies.

Maximum vacancies will be for mechanical branch and then for chemical. Candidates will be called in 1:5 ratio, so interviews will play an important role in your selection. If you do not express your knowledge in the interview then youll be rejected even if you have a double or single digit rank. A minimum of 40% marks needs to be secured in any interview.

So if you receive any call for interview(s), then focus on the interview irrespective of your rank. Dont be under or overconfident due to rank.
