It totally depends upon you if you think that within ONE year of tenure by taking drop you can able to crack IIT-JEE then definitely you should go with it. But as well think in that manner also if you can't able to crack it then it will affect your One precious year also. So overall you have to think you have to work hard for it while taking the One year drop decision.
So overall think yourself wisely don't be under someone's decision.
