Sir I am diploma mechanical engineering student but I am Leatral entry B Tech IT course eligibility
Dear Basith,
Thanks for writing to us. We will be pleased to answer you. First of all your question is not clear. It's not possible to do BTech in IT with your previous qualification.
I want to clarify something. Yes, you have heard right that if you do a Diploma, we can get the lateral entry in the 2nd year of BTech course. Then your course will be of 3 years i.e. 2nd, 3rd, 4th year. You will get a valid BTech degree and certificate just like other students who pursued it from 1st year. But the main thing is that if you want to do BTech by Lateral Entry then you can't change the subject as per your choice. With your previous qualification, we can get an entry in 2nd year and pursue it, if your Discipline(Subject) remains the same. That means if you have done a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering then you cant shift your subject in BTech Lateral Degree. And that too in Information Technology, there is no connection between these two subjects. So, what you can do is:
- If you still want to do BTech in Information Technolgy, you can get admitted in that course from First Year. ENTRY- By giving any Entrance Engineering Examination COURSE DURATION- 4 years. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION- Minimum aggregate with PCM in 10+2 level.
- If you want Lateral Entry then you have to continue your BTech degree in the same discipline i.e. Mechanical Engineering. ENTRY- Lateral Entry COURSE DURATION- 3 years. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION- Diploma Degree in that Discipline.
Most importantly, Mechanical Engineering and Information technology are completely two different streams, before doing this please think about it once again, you can visit our website for more career-related updates. https://www.careers360.com/
Hope this helps you! (Tell us if we have misunderstood your question; it seems like you wanted to ask something else, but ended up asking an illogical question)
Best Wishes for your future, for more questions, keep asking us!!
