To get into the prestigious IIT's you have to pass the JEE mains and JEE advanced examination. To be eligible for jee mains, a candidate must qualify any of the following exams:
- Class 12th or equivalent exam conducted by CBSE/ICSE/ State Boards
- Intermediate or pre-university course conducted by a recognised board or university
- Final examination of the 2- year course of the joint services wing of the National Defence Academy
- Vocational examination of H.S.C
- National Institute of Open Schooling Senior secondary school examination with a minimum of 5 subjects.
- AICTE or State Board of technical education recognised Diploma of at least 3 years duration.
- Association of Indian Universities recognised school, board, university examination in India or in any foreign country recognised as equivalent to 10+2 system.
Diploma holders are allowed to appear in JEE mains examination but their rank and score in JEE mains will not be considered for admission in NIT's and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes.
