Well brother, Look their is a common counselig pattern JoSAA.

So you'll participate in those rounds, and as soon as the rank of your's is fit enough to get a seat at IIT, Your JoSAA would reflect that you have alotted a particular IIT and a particular branch.

Now to confirm that seat, you need to paay an amount (in our time it was 45k). Now you have to report to the nearest IIT (if selected in IIT, then only you have to report at IIT).

Then after all the rounds of counseling are over, then keep an eye at your official college website, they post the dates for the physical registration (takes place last time, at that chosen/admitted college itself).

After that, you are then part of that college and that legacy.
