UGC NET Eligibility criteria is decided on the basis of two factors-
Age and Educational Qualification
According to the Age criteria for Junior Research Fellowship, candidates must not be more than 30 years as on December 1, 2018.
And, there is no such upper age limit of applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
Also, there is age relaxation for the reserved category. Candidates belonging to reserved categories can avail age relaxation as per their category.
For SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Female/Transgender, age relaxation is of 5 Years
For Research candidates (only on producing the certificate issued by appropriate authority)- 5 Years
For Candidates pursuing L.L.M degree-3 Years
For Ex-Armyman- 5 Years
Your age is 24 years, so if you fulfill the educational qualification, you can appear for the exam.

The UGC NET Exam is conducted for the lectureship and Research program and the exam is conducted every year in the month of June and December where several candidates appear in this exam. As per the Eligibility to appear in this exam is doing post-graduation in the subject with at least 55% marks. (50% marks for the candidates from the Reserved cat.)
The candidates in the final year/Sem of the post-graduation and waiting for the final results may also apply for this exam.
There is no age limit to appear in the UGC NET Exam. There will be no other changes in the eligibility as well as the Exam pattern of UGC NET. The exam would be conducted in two phases – UGC NET Paper 1 as well as Paper 2.
There is no upper age limit for the UGC NET Exam.
