Sir, Why has Maharastra stopped MBBS admissions?
Hello Aleshavalli Tejomurtula
NAGPUR: Almost two weeks after Nagpur bench of
Bombay high court
granted an interim stay on
MBBS
and
BDS admissions
, the Supreme Court on Wednesday, stayed the decision, thus paving way for restarting the admission process and bringing much relief to the medical aspirants across India. Due to HC’s interim stay on admissions to
OBC
and ESIC quotas, counselling process was stopped across the country by Medical Counselling Committee (MMC).
Immediately after apex court’s decision, the MMC displayed on its website about releasing the merit list for second round of admissions. It was done as per directives by the top court while hearing a special leave petition (SLP No. 20287/201), filed by the Union ministry for health and family welfare and Delhi-based Director General of Health Service’s (DGHS) challenging Nagpur bench’s stay.
When a PIL (No 87/2018) by Akhil Bhartiya OBC Mahasangh President Baban Taywade and Radhika Raut, who appeared in NEET, came up for hearing on Wednesday, the HC was informed that the SC had granted a stay to the HC’s orders of July 20.
Thank you
