Correct Answer: 18 : 17
Solution :
Total number of students enrolled in college D = 710 + 750 + 680 + 720 + 740 = 3600
Average = $\frac{\text{Sum of all the observations}}{{\text{Total number of observations}}}$
Average number of students enrolled in college D $=\frac{3600}{5} = 720$
Total number of students who passed in college D = 650 + 710 + 640 + 690 + 710 = 3400
Average number of students passed in college D $=\frac{3400}{5} = 680$
The ratio of the average number of students enrolled in college D to the average number of students who passed in college D = $\frac{720}{680} = \frac{18}{17}$
Hence, the correct answer is 18 : 17.
