The biggest National level engineering entrance exam is JEE Main which is conducted by CBSE for candidates all across the nation. NITs, IIITs & GFTIs which are government institutions and some other private colleges allow admissions on the basis of JEE Main scores.
However, candidates who score ranks upto 2,20,000 in JEE Main qualify for JEE Advanced, which is the next level of exam and opens the door for admission to IITs, the prestigious most technical institutes of the country. The counselling for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced is conducted through a common platform that is JoSAA.
As far as State level exams are concerned, you will have to share which state do you belong to so that the name and details of the state specific exam can be shared with you. Most of the State level entrance exams demand domicile, that means the candidate has to have spend some 7 to 10 years in that state and have completed 10 & 10+2 from that state itself.
The biggest university level exams are BITSAT, VITEEE, AEEE, SRMJEEE and COMEDK UGET. They conduct their own respective counselling for admission to their campuses.
