Yes, the difference in the name will cause problem in document verification but it can be solved with a simple affidavit. It should mention both the names of your father and should declare:

1. That both these names pertain to the same person
2. That it is true to your knowledge, and
3. That you're accountable for any discrepancies.

The above should get the affidavit notarized by a first class magistrate.

Also, if possible, try to get the right name on the 12th certificate, the name which is mentioned in the Birth Certificate, as your passport will hold the same name as mentioned in your Birth certificate. If the 10th certificate has your father's name as per your birth certificate and your 12th doesn't, then you should get the name corrected in the 12th certificate. If the name in the 12th certificate is the same as that in the birth certificate then no problem will be created as you will be seeking admission to the college on the basis of the 12th class certificate.

If there is difference in name of your father in 10th and 12th marksheet then it may create problem if in your 12th marksheet your father's name is different from that in your birth certificate. Birth certificate is eventually most important. I would suggest you to correct any flaws that you are having because it's the matter of career and it's very easy to correct the name just by an affidavit.
