As long as you are appearing in the improvement exam only to get better marks and not because you have failed in any subjects and wish to pass, then enter the original year of passing only. What I mean is that if you have already cleared your Class 12 with the necessary passing marks last year, and that these marks are above the required marks for NEET eligibility, then that should be the year which you should enter in your application form.
So if you have passed all the subjects successfully last year and have scored an aggregate of 50% (40% if you are a reserved category) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, you will be eligible to apply for NEET with those marks and so you can enter that. This will indicate that you have passed out previously and are not an appearing candidate, requiring you to select Code 2 in the qualifying exam code.
However, if you haven’t cleared Class 12 and are appearing again to pass certain subjects in the exam, then you should enter as appearing and choose Code 1 as your qualifying exam code.
