BASLP is still a relatively small allied health science field in India. According to a 2025 report citing Rehabilitation Council of India information, around 2,500 students graduate with a BASLP degree in India each year. At the same time, India has a much larger requirement for trained audiologists and speech language professionals.

Therefore, the number of BASLP graduates is considerably lower than the country's overall requirement, which also indicates good scope for trained professionals in this field.
