Hi there,
If you take partial drop in NIT or IIT you won't be getting any kind of degree nor any certificate even if you complete 1 year of your course or 2 years of course even if 3 years of course. You can get your degree certificate only after completion of course.

Yes you can take partial drop in NIT or IIT but you need to explain your condition and situation in a clear way and should submit certificates if needed. Because in IIT and NIT colleges there is a rule that is without proper attendance percentage you can't attend your semester examination. The percentage vary depending upon the branch, your class incharge and HOD.
