What is the best branch of AEC and JEC(Assam) in terms of placement?
Hii,My friend graduated in BE, Electronics and Telecommunication in the year 2014 from Assam Engineering College, so I will tell you the scenario of that time. For the placement session of 2013–14, lots of IT companies visited our campus. Capgemini came in September of 2013, IBM Global Business Service came in November of 2013. Further, Tech Mahindra came in April of 2014, Infosys came in May of 2014. Any branch students can sit for these IT companies with 60–70% (up-to 6th Semester) marks as their eligibility criteria. These companies pay an initial salary of 3–3.5lakhs pa for freshers. So if you want a job in these companies, you don't need any technical knowledge. Only good aptitude and reasoning skills can get you these IT jobs.
For all branches: Future First(no recruitment), Capgemini(recruited ~22), IBM(recruited ~10), Tech Mahindra(recruited ~20), Infosys(recruited ~8), Cafe Coffee Day Beverages.
For CSE, ETE: Zaloni (recruited 2), Yodlee(recruited 1).
For ETE only:Vodafone. (Recruited 2)
For EE only: Power Grid. (Recruited 2)
For ME or EE: BPCL (do not remember)
For ME,EE: Bosch Engineering.
For CH,ME: Torrecid.
For all branches: Resonance coaching centre.
For ETE, instrumentation: GE internship.
Some cement companies such as Ambuja cement came for Civil and few other branches. Some finance companies came for some branches.
Some NGOs came for some branches.I have forgotten other stats. But whatever I have mentioned above, these are the major companies which came during our time as far as I remember. You can get latest stats of placements in the official facebook page of AEC T&P Cell.In our time, Civil and Mechanical guys suffered very much as hardly any core companies came for recruitment. And these numbers vary year by year. So you can't trust these stats. If you have any particular interest in a topic then just take that branch and study properly with having strong basics then you will get a good job for sure. And don't think that campus placement is the end of life. There are many opportunities after you complete your BE. You can go for higher studies in IITs/IIMs/abroad by clearing GATE/CAT/GRE. You can also get PSU jobs via GATE and other competitive exams. You can try for IAS/IES. There are many opportunities.
My personal view:Seeing the current market trend, I believe that studying Computer Science and Engineering would be the best choice anyone can do provided he/she has interest in mathematics , linear algebra, probability and programming.
