What is the reservation criteria in AIIMS?

According to the information provided in AIIMS MBBS 2017 prospectus, the intake of six new AIIMS are 100 seats per year. However, the reservation policy which followed is 7.5% ST, 15% SC and 27% OBC, for Indian Nationals. Further, a 3% reservation for Orthopaedic Physically Handicapped shall be provided on horizontal basis, in the seats available.

AIIMS MBBS Seats and Reservation 2017
If number of suitable candidates are not available to fill the requisite number of seats reserved for the Scheduled Caste, the same will be filled out by the candidates belonging to ST and vice versa. In case candidates belonging to SC/ST categories, vacant seats will be filled by General category candidates.

AIIMS Seat ReservationThe reservation policy from the Govt. of India is applicable to all the AIIMS. So, there is reservation based on the caste category. As per the latest news and updates, the AIIMS Seat Reservation policy is 27% for OBC candidate, 15% for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates (for Indian Nationals) and 3% for the Orthopaedic Physical Handicapped (horizontal 3%). The AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam offers admissions to 707 MBBS seats, with 100 seats reserved for Indian Nationals and 7 seats for Foreign Nationals at AIIMS New Delhi, and 100 seats each available for Indian Nationals at each of the other six AIIMS institutions located in Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh.
AIIMS institutions also follow the same reservation criteria applicable to NEET, with 15% seats reserved for SC candidates, 7.5-8% seats reserved for ST candidates and 27% seats reserved for OBC candidates. There is also the 3% horizontal reservation for Orthopaedic Physically Handicapped (OPH) candidates.
