Category rank is particularly the rank that you get according to your category i.e UR/SC/ST/OBC. In the NEET result, a candidate is given 2 ranks - the one is the All India Rank (AIR) and the other is the category rank of the candidate to which he or she belongs to.
Suppose you're a general category candidate and according to your category- your rank will be given which will depict your position in ranks among the total number of general category candidates who cleared NEET. Also category rank helps the one mainly during admission/counseling process giving various benefits if you're a reserved category candidate.
