what should I do if I am selected in neet
Anish, NEET is just an entrance exam and you need to secure more than the cut offs for qualifying in NEET. Once the results have been declared, the respective States will release the online registration process for State Counselling. For example, if you belong to Haryana, you can participate only for Haryana State Counselling and also in any other State Counselling whose domicile you have. Now only 85% of the seats in Government Medical Colleges are available for State Counselling. The rest of 15% seats are collected from all States except for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and the counselling is held at All India Level. Central Universities, Deemed Universities and IP Quota of ESIC is filled through the All India Counselling alone. Now once your State releases the notification for State Counselling, you have to register online and pay a non refundable registration fees and refundable security deposit. You have to select the colleges of your preference and lock them. If you are allotted a seat and you are happy with the allotment, you need to visit the designated Document verification centers and go through the process of document verification. If the authorities are satisfied with the authenticity of the documents, you have to visit the college and pay the fees and seek admission. Now lets say if you are not happy with the college, you can choose to opt out of the college by a process called Free Exit and participate in 2nd round of counselling. The free exit option is only available for 1st round. The process is the same with All India Counselling too.
