What type of engeenring is best computer or mecanical

If someone is asking this questions then I assume that you are job oriented guy who won to get job after your graduation therefore I think you should go for Computer Science and Engineering because it has lot tomorrow. In this compared to mechanical engineering and also the packages offered are relatively high compared to mechanical engineering but if you are interested in government jobs then mechanical is not out better than Computer Science and Engineering but in terms of money and opportunities Computer Science and Engineering is better than mechanical engineeringi if you have any personal interest then you should choose it but if you have interest in both of them then no doubt you should go for Computer Science and Engineering.

I advice you to follow your interest.Many students selection of branch on the basis of current popularity.Popularity of engineering branches have been driven by demand supply situation and it changes in cyclic fashion.So,all engineering branches have more career opportunities.

This question can be answered from several perspective. Both are good branches and offer a lot of opportunities after completing your education.

1. What are you interested in pursuing?
2. What kind of job would you prefer after graduation? A desk job or a physically intensive job?
3. Which IIT is it? Some have excellent ME departments, some have excellent chemical, mettalurgy and so on.

My answer would be in a general sense.

CS

• CS fetches you more starting salary packages.
• Avenues to go abroad are plenty.
• Mostly, you would be working in a metro city like Delhi, Banglore, Pune etc.
• Software job is monotonous.
• Software companies are the first to lay off people when the going gets tough, such as a recession.
• Government jobs are less.

Mechanical

• Entry level salaries are not much. However after some experience, salaries are at par with CS/IT guys.
• Experience matters more here. An experienced guy is valuable to the organization.
• You can work anywhere. In a metro or on some dam on Mahanadi or in the mountains of far north east. So maybe lots of travelling and exciting life.
• Good number of govt. Jobs and job security.
• Avenues to go abroad, but only after significant experience.
