Some institutions are very serious about dates and procedures, they prefer the processes to go smoothly on the given date itself, they usually dont entertain later on. But at times due to some inconvenience on students part and if the reason in genuine they do accept on the very next day. It would be preferable better if you are punctual with such task as these procedures are very important. Or incase you have some difficulty I would suggest you to call up the institute and ask them out please don't jump to conclusions on your own. Rules are rules it has to be followed.
