The admission criteria of Thiagarajar college of engineering Madurai is not based on cut off marks but on ranks. Students choose their courses based upon the state wise rank calculated by their marks in Higher Secondary examination conducted by the Department of Education, Government of Tamil Nadu.
Along with that reservations are also provided for BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST and also to the people who are physically handicapped/sportsperson /Ex- service men.
