When will the AIIMS counselling begin?

Previous Year process was as follows and this year too, its going to be same more or less.

The AIIMS MBBS entrance exam 2017 will be conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi for admission to the MBBS programmes in the seven AIIMS institutes. The selection procedure is based on the merit of the AIIMS MBBS entrance exam. The applicants can check the process of selection for AIIMS MBBS 2017 given as under:

• The applicants will appear in the AIIMS MBBS entrance test to be held in May 2017(last week)/June 2017 first week.
• The result of the entrance test will be declared on June 2017, 2nd week.
• A common merit list will be prepared based on the result of AIIMS MBBS 2017.
• Separate merit lists will be prepared for the SC, SC and OBC candidates.
• The candidates will be called for the counselling at AIIMS, New Delhi.
• In the counselling, Seats will be allotted in all the seven AIIMS institutes.
• The selected candidates will have to report to the respective AIIMS institute to undergo medical examination by a Medical Board.

AIIMS New Delhi conducts offline counselling for admissions and releases its counselling schedule prior to the beginning of counselling process. The list of candidates shortlisted for counselling is made available on the official website of AIIMS and counselling call letters, stating the date/time of the venue of counselling, are sent to the shortlisted candidates. Typically total number of candidates to be called for counsel- ling are equal to the four times the total number of available seats in each category. AIIMS first round of counselling usually begins in July, fol- lowed by a second round of counselling in August and third round of counselling in September. After three rounds of counselling are over, an ‘open counselling’ is also conducted by AIIMS in which all the candidates qualified for the AIIMS entrance exam can participate in the order of their merit. It must be noted that whether or not subsequent rounds of counselling will be conducted will depend on the availability of seats. AIIMS keep different dates of counselling for different categories, for example, if first round of counselling is scheduled across 8 days, counselling will first be conducted for unreserved category for first four days, followed by two days devoted for counselling of OBC candidates and so on.
