There is no one answer to your question, as you have to account for many permutation and combination. For example, while it is common knowledge that computer science is among the top disciplines in the country, if you get a B.Tech degree from a low-ranked institute you might not be so attractive to recruiters. However, if you do the same course from a top institute like an IIT, NIT or some other reputed institute you stand a better chance to land a decent paying job.

So, you have to take into account all relevant factors, including your strenths and weaknesses when picking a course for study.
