Which iims can I get sure shot admission into with good cat score but 60 percent marks in btech

Hy sayan,
It depends on the following strategies:
1.Scoring a percentile more than 90 in CAT:
First thing is first! For getting into IIM, first you need to attend for PI/WAT rounds conducted by IIM's.For getting a call from reputed IIM's you must possess a good percentile. Good percentile could be at-least more than 90 for general category.
What is the minimum requirement to get a seat in an IIM?

Dear Mr.Ullas Bhat,
As you have asked about the minimum requirement for getting a seat in an IIM, lemme give you a very basic, simple requirement which you need to be equipped with to obtain a seat.
It depends on the following strategies:
1.Scoring a percentile more than 90 in CAT:

The above given percentile is for IIM udaipur ,which is also an IIM.And there can be a slight variation in the percentile for OBC,SC,ST category aspirants.
2.Academic Performance:
Next comes Academics. These play a major role in getting a call from IIM. An average scholar with atleast an aggregate of 85% in X,XII and 65% in UG can get a chance to get into IIM.And I'm keeping it very clear that these are theminimum requirements.
3.Proficiency in reading and writing:
One should be able to speak fluently in English, which helps to defeat the others in GD(in some cases) and it also helps in PI aswell.Because one needs to understand what the interviewer is asking and able to communicate his/her views clearly.Next comes to writing, where in you need to write an essay on the topic given. For mastering in that round, you should know the correct grammar usage and good comprehension.
Moreover, for a successful conversation of an IIM call,it is depends on your abilities too..i.e., convincing skills, answering skills etc. Also,There may be many factors such as Work Experience,Academic achievements etc, which do not count for minimum requirement for getting into IIM.And if you do possess them, they tend to an added advantage.
I wish you all the best.
Cheers !!

It all depends on your final score or percentile in CAT. Graduation score is just a part of selection score and have different weightages for different Institute. If you have scored high and have decent enough tenth and twelfth score you can expect a call from many of the best B Schools of the country.
Sure shot admission cannot be guaranteed into any IIMs even if you had 80% in graduation because after the CAT results are declared IIMs conduct further rounds of selection that includes WAT and Personal Interview round. You need to appear for those and clear them with high scores for your final selection.

You need to know that after CAT exam every IIM makes a merit list to call students for next round of interview and WSAT which is based on your aggregate score which comprises of many factors such as CAT marks, 10th 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non engineer, gender with different weightages for different IIMs. In this graduation percentage has generally 5 - 10% weightage.
As you have low percentage in graduation it will definitely hinder your selection process but with a good CAT percentile you will be able to cover the loss in maximum IIMs as it has maximum weightage in the first merit list.
For top 3 IIMs like IIM A, B, C you will need to score atleast 99.7+ percentile. For other old IIMs like IIM L, K and I you need to score atleast 98+ percentile. With 95+ percentile you can get calls from all new IIMs. There might be problems with some IIMs like IIM A which give weightage to academics and IIM B which gives way more weightage to work experience. Also in IIM I which gives way more weightage to academic records even more than CAT marks. But if you have good percentage in 10th and 12th then it won't create a big problem.
All the best!!
