For clearing Cat maths you should not bother too much that optional subject in class 11 will help you too much in aptitude section.Basically in Quant section of Cat the syllabus is based upto class 10 .But if you want to do very well in quant section of cat you should take maths as optional subject because it will really help you in understanding the concept easily.
