Tamil Nadu has the most medical colleges in the country, with 71 colleges, according to NMC data. With 67 colleges apiece, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh tie for second place among Indian states with the most prestigious medical schools. There are 42 medical institutes in Telangana and 64 in Maharashtra.
