WHO IS THE OWNER OF UPES?

The original owner was Laureate Education, Inc. which is a corporation based in Baltimore, Maryland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore,_Maryland) , in the United States. Laureate owns and operates Laureate International Universities , with more than 150 campuses in 10 countries as of 2019.

Though former United States President Bill Clinton (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton) 's role as a chancellor of Laureate was officially described as "honorary", from 2010 until early 2015, Bill Clinton was paid just short of $16.5 million for his role as honorary chancellor, including $2.5 million in 2011, when Hillary Clinton was still Secretary of State. These numbers were disclosed in his publicly released tax returns.

Laureate’s India business  which  includes University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in Dehradun that offers courses across disciplines including engineering, business and law estimated to be worth Rs 2,500 crore, was sold to the Hydrocarbons Education and Reseserch Society  in 2019.

Hello waseem,
The starter of the upes is the jqcob kurian.It was enterwd in the country in 2003 but was failed.Later again it reentered the country in the year 2011.UPES is managed by the hydrocarbons education and reseserch Society.Around 18000 plus students enrolled in it.
