No, metallurgy does not comes under the stream of mechanical. Production engineering is sub part of mechanical. Metallurgical and material engineering is independent branch which deals with extraction of metals and also metarial behavior.

Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgy is a 4 year Under graduate course. Metallurgical Engineering is basically the study of Metals. The Employment opportunities for the students are available in areas like Chemical and Metalurgical labs, iron and steel companies etc., Ofcourse Metallurgy is similar to Mechanical engineering and Chemical Engineering.
