I belong to genral cast , so is there is any way that I get admission in IIT
Hello,
To get a seat in IIT you need to give Joint Entrance Examination Advanced. To be eligible to give Joint Entrance Examination Advanced the candidate should have scored at least 75% aggregate marks in 12th standard (or equivalent) examination. For SC/ST/PwD, the aggregate marks should be at least 65%. As you have not mentioned your category if you belong to unreserved cast you will not get seat in IIT but if you belong to SC/ST/PwD you can get into IIT depending on your Joint Entrance Examination Advanced scores.
To be eligible for IITs one needs at least 75% marks in aggregate in class 12 if belong to general or obc category or at least 65% marks if belongs to SC/ST or must be in the top 20 percentile in class 12 examination.
So , if you have got only 70% in class 12th board examination then
- you can get admission in IIT only if you belong to Sc or St category
- but in case if you belong to General or OBC category then you are not eligible for admission in IIT as in that you need at least 75% in board examination
5 Subjects to be considered for calculating aggregate percentage are :-
*Physics
*Chemistry
*Mathematics
*A language
*Any subject other than listed above
