    A Candidate must pass Indian Maritime University, Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET)

    Eligibility Criteria


    1. Having Passport at the time of admission is mandatory.
    2. Qualifying IMU CET/State level Engineering Entrance Exam/JEE (with more than 40 Percentile) is mandatory for First Year B. Tech Marine Engineering, B.Sc. Nautical Science admission and Diploma in Nautical Science.
    3. For the Academic Year-2025, 5% relaxation in PCM marks at the 12th Std. Board Level for SC/ST Candidates for Admission into Pre-Sea courses (B.Tech / B.Sc). For DGS Circular,
    4. Part time or distance learning or correspondence course or any combination of these shall not be considered.
    Academic Qualifications

    The candidate must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with:

    • At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and
    • At least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII.
    Age

    Candidates less than 25 years of age as on 1st of August in the year of admission will be eligible to apply. The date of birth as recorded on the applicants School Leaving Certificate will be considered for this purpose.

    1. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to "Scheduled Cast"(SC) / "Scheduled Tribe" (ST) Category shall be relaxed by 5 years.
    2. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to No-Creamy layer of "Other Backward Classes" (OBC) Category shall be relaxed by 3 Years
    3. The maximum age limit for women candidates of each category shall be relaxed by additional 2 years.

    • Results of the Class 12th board exam should be obtained at FIRST ATTEMPT and from a Regular Board only

      Only those candidates who have appeared for class XII board examinations from a board that is approved by the Ministry of HRD, Govt of India are eligible.

      The following marks must be obtained
    •  Minimum Aggregate Percentage - 60%
    • Minimum PCM aggregate - 60%
    • Minimum score in Physics & Maths individually - 50%
    • Minimum aggregate for Physics & Maths - 60%
    • For Andhra Pradesh & Kerala State boards: 11th & 12th aggregate marks will be considered for the above-mentioned criteria.

      Candidates who have appeared for XII examinations with the results yet to be declared are also eligible to appear. 
    • Medical  - Physically fit and meet the standards laid out by DG Shipping & ESM / SIMS*
    • Language  - English shall be one of the subjects with minimum marks scored 50% in class X or XII
    •  Eyesight    - 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in the better eye & 6/18 in the other eye. Corrective lenses are permitted. No color-blindness
