Admissions will be based on the rank in the admission test, conducted for the purpose. Selected candidates will have to undergo remedial courses as decided by the University.

The minimum eligibility for SEBC candidates to be considered under reservation quota (belonging to Kerala State) for admission to B. Tech is 45% for Mathematics and 45% for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together in the qualifying examination. Of the total seats for B.Tech. (Self-financing) 50% are free seats, 40% payment and 10% are NRI payment seats.

• Students for the B. Tech Marine Engineering course at Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering are admitted based on the rank list of the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU) from the Academic Year onwards. Hence, students wishing for admission to B Tech Marine Engineering at Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering will have to register in the CUSAT admission portal attend CET conducted by Indian Maritime University, and subsequently upload the rank certificate issued by Indian Maritime University in the CUSAT admission portal.
• Pass in the Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala or any other examinations accepted as equivalent thereto Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% marks and a minimum of 50% for Mathematics alone. Should have passed English at 10th or 12th Standards with 50% marks (No relaxation to SC/ST and SEBC Candidates).
• The maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as of 1st September of the year of admission. Physical and eye fitness certificate from a medical officer approved by the DG Shipping should be produced at the time of admission.
