Coming to your question I would like to tell you that to give the Gate exam there is no restriction of CGPA , but for doing mtech the 6.0 CGPA is must , so if you have a good rank in gate your chances for selection automatically

Yes, of course! You can do MS in computer science even if you're from mechanical background. When it is your interest, go with that. Though some of the top universities take students from cs background. You need to have the knowledge necessary for a computer science course.

May be you have to pay the entire fee of tbe four year course, because you took one of the engineering seats of the college when you'll quit engineering, the seat will remain vacant for rest years as no admission will be done to that seat.
