As this is the very new and emerging field it has a good scope both in India as well as abroad.As now the people are getting aware about the subjects and now schools have also included this subjects in classes 11 and 12 along with the biology subject.so if you are thinking to pursue this subject it has a very bright future ahead 

No!  You have no chance of getting sastra University.If you are from another state other than tamilnadu then you should have a rank of below 2500 to get into sastra university. Rank of below 2200 to get Bio-technology. If you are from tamilnadu then under state Quota you have a chance of getting it. 

Sorry to say but now you cannot make any changes in your application as NTA had opened a window for making changes to your application you could have done it then but as per as I know it doesn't allow to change your category .You can also write to NTA and ask if anything can be done. YES : IIT Kharagpur has a good placements fir Biotechnology students.If you look over the statistical graph for the placements it increases rapidly. In   IIT Kharagpur , you’ll always find many opportunities , internships etc. to explore yourself . So , go grab the opportunity .

Note : In case you wanted a comparative study , I would rate IISc > IISER > IIT in biotech fields and core placements aren’t that great in IIT KGP biotech , compared to other branches .
