I am currently studying in class 12 do I have to give common aptitude test to get admission in central universities for UG courses?

Anirudh Singh 15th Jan, 2021

Hi.

No you do not need to give CAT Exam for admission into UG Courses in a government college.

The Common Admission Test is a computer based test for admission in a graduate management program.

The entrance exam for govt. colleges depends upon the course you wish to get enrolled into, such as, if you want to pursue engineering then you need give JEE Mains exam, if you want to pursue medical sciences then you need give NEET Exam and so on.

If you have a further specific query please feel free to comment.

Best of Luck.

Heard of implementation of Common Aptitude Test for admission in central universities (DU) will it be implemented from dis year(2021)?

harshitasharansrivastava Student Expert 15th Feb, 2021

Hello Dear,

The initial recommendations included proposals for conducting the entrance exam twice a year. However, for the 2021-22 academic session, the entrance test is proposed to be conducted once a year. The students will have the option of appearing for the entrance exams for more than a year. The government is planning to implement a Common Aptitude Test for admission in all central universities including Delhi University (DU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Good Luck

is this true that there is going to be a common admission test for Central universities from 2021-2022?

darshita 5th Jan, 2021

Hello,

Firstly this is just a speculation, government is still deciding whether to implement it or not.

  • The Centre is planning to start a single entrance test called Common Aptitude Test for admissions to central universities from the 2021-2022 academic session.
  • These include Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Banaras Hindu University among others.
  • The Common Aptitude Test will most likely be conducted twice a year.
  • It would be a computer-based test with a general assessment component and a subject-specific component. The language, logical reasoning, and quantitative aptitude of the student will be tested, along with the subject-specific assessment.

So please wait till the official announcement is done.

Hopefully this helps!!

Hello, the Higher Education Secretary has talked about the common entrance exam for the undergraduate programs which candidates from diverse streams can write. He has quoted the CAT exam in which arts, science, engineering etc. students can write a common exam. Hey! there was a news that all the central universities will conduct a single exam, but I can see the news about individual exam dates of some central universities like BHU whats the real news pls confirm!

Anirudh Singh 19th Jan, 2021

Hi

According to Ministry of Education (MoE) sources, students seeking admission in undergraduate courses at central university will have to appear for the common aptitude test (comprising verbal and quantitative ability and logical reasoning), followed by subject-specific tests.

This does not mean that individual tests for taking a specific course will not occur. There is an additional exam i.e. Common Aptitude Test which needs to cleared as a prerequisite.

Good Luck

Yes, it is true. National education policy 2020 states that NTA (National testing agency) will work on high quality common aptitude test, as well as some specialized subjects in commorce, arts etc. This test's score/rank would be used to take admission to undergraduate courses into central universities from 2021-2022.

Neha Kanwar 29th Dec, 2020

Hello Mohammad Saqib,

There is no information for University of Delhi conducting entrance examination for the merit based courses. So, till now admission will be as usual done on the basis of percentage scored in class 12 for the merit based courses. But for the latest information, it is recommended to visit the official website of Delhi University.

Hope it helps.
