In order to become a CA you have to clear four levels

1) Common Proficiency Test (CPT)

2) Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC)/IPCE

3) Three years Articleship/ Training under a Practicing C.A

4) C. A. Final

In order to appear for CPT 2018 exam you have to register for application form and you have to enroll as a student for CPT.

You will be given a registration number.

You can register for CPT exam after your 10th class but you will be eligible for the exam when you are appering for 12th class.

You must have registered before 1st April to appear for the exam.

Exam will be condicted in the month of JUNE.

The CA course is designed to combine theoretical study with practical training. There is an exam for it and is divided in 3 aspects:

• Common Proficiency Test (CPT)
• Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC)
• Final Examination

ICAI conducts CPT exams in June and December, IPCC and Final examinations in May and November each year.

Now that you are doing graduation as per its criteria if you scored more than 55% under commerce stream than you can directly apply for level 2.

The role of a chartered accountant covers many aspects of finance work, including continuous management of financial systems and budgets; undertaking financial audits (an independent check of an organisation's financial position); and even providing financial advice.

You can appear for CA CPT exam in 2 phases, such that the test for two subjects will be taken in the first session and for remaining two, the test will be taken in another session.

Each session is for 2 hours and overall the exam is for 4 hours.

There will be a break for 2 hours in between.

Test medium will be in English or Hindi.

CA CPT exam is on December 17th, First session: 10:00 am -12:00 noon, Second session: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

The registration for CPT Course will be valid for a period of 3 years from the date the student becomes eligible to appear in CPT exam for the first time.

Basic knowledge of Maths is what is required. Your concepts should be clear. You should have understanding of debits/credits, transactions, finances and accounts etc. 

Computers handle most of the math - you need to be able to logically analyze the data to see if it makes sense. A good understanding of Excel would be more useful than doing math in your head.

If your concepts are not clear at elementary level then you can face difficulty.
