In CUSAT CAT, while choosing course selection,  you dont have to enter your class 12th marksheet. It is not required in the CUSAT. But yes according to the eligibility criteria,  you have to have 50% in mathematics,  and have an aggregate of 50% in mathematics, physics and chemistry taken together. Then only you are eligible.

Congrats on this rank. You did quite well to get into top 1000 candidates. According to my knowledge, you have clear chances of getting the course this year in further rounds. According to 2018 data, last round cutoff was low. In 2017, it was very high. 

There is a very little chance for you to get selected in any of the colleges that comes under the CUSAT exam.

With this rank, you may get Cochin University, Kuttanad. 

Do not lose hope as you can go for a lot of colleges based on your result in many other entrance exams as well.

Placement of any college student depends upon how much calibre (skill) has a student & no of company visited in campus . If u have a good GPA then u are eligible for attending placement . But your placement depends upon your skill which is judged by interviewer . So we should take attention on skill development . In cusat Ec company is visited & some of the student placed and they have acquired good package.

But you must be aware that the subject is quite tough and if you dont have interest in it then ts not advisable to opt ECE in SOE or CU.
