Hello
Tamil Nadu students can apply for B.Tech Naval Architecture at CUSAT through the CUSAT CAT exam. You must have at least 60 in PCM and 50 in Maths in the 12th standard. After clearing the exam, you need to register online for counselling and fill out your course choices. A few all-India quota seats are available for non-Kerala students in this course. Admission is based on your CAT rank, eligibility, and seat availability.
With a rank of 16,689 in the CUSAT CAT exam, it will be difficult to get admission to the main campus (Cochin University) for top branches like Computer Science or Electronics, because these branches close at much lower ranks. But you may still get Mechanical or Civil Engineering at the Kuttanad campus (CUCEK), where the cutoff ranks are higher.

With a CUSAT CAT rank of 16,689, you have a fair chance of getting admission into several engineering branches. At the main campus in Thrikkakara, you may get branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Instrumentation, or Safety and Fire Engineering, especially in the later rounds. The more competitive branches like CSE or ECE at the main campus may be harder, but still possible depending on the category and seat availability.
At the CUCEK (Kuttanad campus), your chances are better for branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, since the closing ranks are generally higher there. So yes, admission is quite possible—focus on filling in your choices carefully during counselling to maximize your chances.
Yes, candidates who qualify in CUSAT CAT can gain admission to various participating institutes based on their rank. These include engineering colleges associated with CUSAT, such as its own School of Engineering in Kochi, Model Engineering College, and over 20 government and private engineering colleges across Kerala like College of Engineering Thrikkaripur, Co-operative Institute of Technology Vadakara, and MG College of Engineering Thiruvallam. The final seat allotment is based on your rank and your choice of program during the counselling process.
