Hello sir /mam, please tell me. .my DOB is 1 January 2000 can I eligible for cds ota? ??

ARYAN SAGAR 22nd Dec, 2020
Dear student,

Union Public Service Commission ( UPSC ) conducts the exam for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination. And the eligibility criteria is also decided by upsc.

Now, for cds there is a particular age limit for different courses. Also note that there is no age relaxation for reserved candidates for cds examination.

Now, if you are applying for OFFICER'S TRAINING ACADEMY ( OTA ) exam then yes you are eligible to give this exam as you pass the age eligibility criteria.

For CDS OTA the age limit is 19 yrs to 25 yrs for married and unmarried both.
And as your Date of birth is 1st january 2000, so your age currently is 20 years. So, definitely you can give cds ota exam with ease.

Yes. CDS provides an opportunity to Short service commission as well as permanent commission. You can get permanent commission by getting into AFA, IMA and INA. For that you need to appear in the Mathematics paper along with GK and English. The short service commission in Indian army is offered till the age of 25.

sir kindly tell me, Am I eligible for CDS-2, 2021( my date of birth is 25 /03/1996) , I am a female candidate, want to apply CDS -2 and AFCAT -2 , KINDLY Guide me 🙏🙏

Karam Vir 15th Dec, 2020

Hi,

Under CDS, female candidates are only eligible for training in OTA(Officers Training Academy, Chennai). So, for OTA the female candidates need to be between 19-25 years of age. Also, the female candidates need to be either unmarried, widow or divorced. While, joining the academy, you must be 25 years of age. So, if during joining time, your age will be more than 25 years of age, you will be no longer eligible.

For AFCAT, female candidates age should be between 20-24 years for sitting into the AFCAT examination. If, you sit for AFCAT, next year, you will not be eligible for it.

is it necessary to clear cds 1 before cds 2?

U. Janani 10th Dec, 2020

Hi Jyoti!

No, it is not necessary! Combined Defence Services Exam is conducted twice a year mostly in February and November. The one coming in February is CDS 1 and the other coming in November is CDS 2.

Both are the same exam dated at different times of the year. So, writing anyone at your convience is enough!

Hope this is helpful!

All the best!

will taking 2 year drop after 12th make me ineligible for CDS exam?

Shubham Dhane 7th Dec, 2020

Hello,

To be eligible for CDS exam the age limit is of 19-25 years and the candidate needs to be a graduate to be eligible  to give CDS exam. There is no age relaxation for reserved category candidates in the CDS examination. So if you satisfy the above eligibility criteria only then you will be eligible. Two years gap has nothing to do with the eligibility for CDS exam. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the exam conducting body for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination.
