Highlights of CDS Eligibility Criteria

·         It is important for the candidate to be unmarried and should not be a widower or should not be a divorcee.

·         The highlights of eligibility standards as per Category, Age Limit, Gender and Marital Status are tabulated below:

CDS Nationality Criteria

For CDS exam, the candidate should be a subject/citizen of any 1 of the following countries/regions:

1.    A citizen of India

2.    A subject of Bhutan

3.    A subject of Nepal

4.    A Tibetan refugee who came to India before July 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently setting in India.

5.    A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India

CDS Educational Qualification

All the candidates should have completed their Graduation or should be appearing for the final year degree examination. The individual educational qualification required for each institution is discussed below.

·         I.M.A. and OTA: Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.

·         Indian Naval Academy (INA): Degree in Engineering from a recognized university/institution.

·         Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Note: The candidates who are in the final years of their Degree Course and have yet to pass the final year Degree examination are also eligible to apply. Such candidates are required to submit the proof of passing the requisite qualifying examination by a date to be specified in the Commission’s Notice for the Examination.

CDS 2019 Age and Marital Status Criteria

The candidate should go through the cut off dates for age limit and marital status criteria before filling the online Application form for CDS examination1:

For Indian Military Academy (IMA): The candidate falling in the age group of 19 – 24 Years i.e. they are born not earlier than January 2, 1993 & not later than January1, 1998 only. The candidate should also be unmarried to be considered eligible.

For Indian Naval Academy (INA): The candidate falling in the age group of 19- 22 Years i.e. they are born not earlier than January 2, 1993 & not later than January 1, 1998 only. The candidate for this category should also be unmarried to be considered for eligibility.

For Air Force Academy: the candidate falling in the age group of 19- 23 Years i.e. they are born not earlier than January 2, 1993 & not later than January 1, 1997 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than January 2, 1991 & not later than January 1, 1997) are eligible. The candidates below 25 years should be unmarried and above 25 years can or cannot be married.

For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for Men): The candidate belonging in the age group of 19- 25 Years i.e. they are born not earlier than July 2, 1991 & not later than July 1, 1997 are eligible. Also, here the candidate can either be married or unmarried.

For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course): the candidate belonging to age group of 19- 25 Years i.e. they are born not earlier than July 2, 1992 and not later than July 1, 1998. The candidate is eligible if they are unmarried, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried.

Mam my DOB is 20-04-1995 but while Im applying for cds2 2019 exam its showing you are not eligible what I have to do mam please help me

Hello mam,

Every training institute for CDS has different eligibility criteria regarding age. Indian Military Academy accepts candidates between the age 19 to 24 years. Indian Naval Academy accepts candidates between age 19 to 22 years only, while officers training academy has age criteria of 19 to 25 years. According to this, you are eligible only for the officers training academy. If you are filling form for other academies, you will definitely not be eligible for application.

Dear Aspirant,

Yes of course you can apply for UPSC CDS exam

UPSC CDS examination is conducted to recruit officers in 3 armed forces of india Army,Navy & Air Force.CDS examination is conducted twice a year i.e. CDS I in the month of February and CDS II in the month of November.

To apply for it you can wait for UPSC to release it's official notification then after you can apply through the website link upsconlin.nic.in

Steps To Apply for CDS Application Form:

  • Visit the official website of the UPSC.
  • On the home page, visit the Active Examination.
  • The application process is divided into 2 parts.
  • Part I requires the candidate to furnish personal, educational, and residential details for registration purposes.
  • A valid and correct phone number and email address must be provided for the same.
  • The examination fee is Rs 200 (no fee for women and reserved category students), then paid via an online gateway provided, or via SBI challan generated from the website.
  • The challan is to be submitted with cash at the SBI Cash counter the next day.
  • Part II of the application filling procedure requires the candidate to scan the photograph and signature images and restrict the size according to the guidelines and upload them on the website.
  • Before clicking the submit button the candidate is advised to, take the printout of the filled-in application form for future reference.
  • The availability of admit cards is notified on the website accordingly.

During application process you are asked to fill your force Academy preference accordingly i.e Army,Navy,Air Force & OTA.Base on your rank in all india merit you will get your desired force academy.

Hello Aspirant,

Sorry, you can not apply for UPSC CDS exam,only graduate students are applicable for CDS Entry. If you are interested to join army after 12 as commissioned officer you can go for NDA exam “National Defence Academy Exam”. It is also conducted by Upsc just like as cds exam.

My date of birth is 1july1995 am I elegible for cds 2 2019 for ota?

No you are not eligible for CDS2 2019 because for OTA men born not earlier than 2nd  july, 1995 and not later than 1st july 2001. for ota ssc women category age limit is same.

If I completed my graduation from LPU jalanader. I can apply for CDS?

Yes, definitely, you can get a government job after receiving a degree from LPU. The degree from LPU is recognized by UGC and also it is accepted internationally for higher education and jobs. I have many acquaintances who have completed their degrees from LPU and working in government organizations such as PSUs, Public Sector Banks, Indian Army, State Government jobs, Educational sectors, etc.

NO,there is not any percentage criteria in 12th and in graduation to apply for UPSC CDS examination.

Im going to complete my class 12 with humanities stream. Im a boxer also.My aim is to crack Cds exam for ota,what is my next step after 12

Hii..

 As you mention that you are from 12th Humanities and you want to crack CDS exam 10 to crack that you have to prepare for this exam you may take gap of 1 year for preparation how are you can join graduation courses with their preparation you have to just focus on your preparation.

If i have rejected in SSB interview, than i have to appear in CDS exam again or can apper for next SSB interview?

Hello Sandeep,

Well if you cracked CDS exam but if you are rejected in SSB interview you have to start all over it again. You can't gave direct interview. Hooe it will be helpful
