I guess you are getting chemical engineering in nit Jalandhar and mechanical engineering in uiet. 

If you ask from me then I would suggest you to go with chemical engineering in nit Jalandhar , as I know that you will get there lots of opportunities in other fields also. You will be able to explore your other skills also.

Choose NIT Silchar for CSE than any of the CSE or IT at NIT Jalandhar. NIT Silchar at least has a better reputation than NIT Jalandhar. NIT Silchar is country wide known and is a good institute to join. Don't get tangled with the facts of lower cutoff ranks. Research and think which suits you better.

Campus & Infrastructure: NIT J is a green campus.Its spread across 153 acres away from the cityThere are newly built lecture rooms for Btech 1st year. There is a gymnasium hall in which wooden badminton courts are present.

Hostel life: The environment in hostels is friendly.You can see a mini India there. The rooms in the hostels are 2 seaters and 3 seaters for 1st year students.

Placements: Placements are really good in. NIT J. In 2018 Microsoft hire 8 students from CSE and ECE at an annual package of 39 lakhs.The average package for CSE is 10 lakh and for ECE it's around 7.2 lakh per annum.

Fests: NIT J hosts 2 fests in a year.One is cultural fest named Uttkansh and the other one is Techniti which is a technical fest.

I think if one can compare two colleges on the following parameters -

1.    Location-Pec Chandigarh has location advantage over the later

2.    Infrastructure -Nit jalandhar have far better infrastructure over NIT

3.    Teaching faculty-It varies from branch to branch but overall Pec Chandigarh has better faculty

4.    Placement-For cse and ece branch nit jalndhar placement is very good. And for other branch its more or less same.

Both NIT Jaipur and NIT Jalandhar are amongst the top 10 NITs and both are very good colleges in terms of every aspect. The choice here depends on the fact that whether you give preference to branch or college and towards which branch you are more inclined as per your interest. This should determine your choice. Dear aspirant your reserved category rank is good enough to get a seat in nit but you would not get streams like cse or it in nit Jalandhar. You can get streams like biotechnology, chemical engineering, civil engineering. You can get it or cse in nit sikkim, Mizoram
